Actor Charley Scalies, Lifelong Philly Resident, Dies: Appeared On Sopranos, Wire Charley Scalies, a popular actor renowned for his roles in HBO’s acclaimed series The Wire and The Sopranos, has died. He was 84. Scalies died on Thursday, May 1, in a nursing facility located in Phoenixville, Pennsylvania, following a battle with Alzheimer’s disease, according to his obituary. Williams, according to a release by the US Department of Justice. All four men were taken into custody on Tuesday– including one defendant who was arrested in Puerto Rico, according to the news release.
