Two people were killed and several family pets perished in a house fire in Robeson Township, the Berks County Coroner’s Office announced on Wednesday, April 9. The fire broke out just after 1 a.m. at a home on the 3200 block of Morgantown Road, officials said. A driver was hospitalized after crashing into a home in New Freedom Borough late Tuesday night, Feb. 13, according to Rose Fire Company #1. Firefighters were called to the scene at North 2nd and West Main streets at 11:20 p.m., where they found a vehicle had veered off the road and slammed into a residence, the fire company said. The National Weather Service at State College has confirmed a tornado touched in Harrisburg and traveled through the neighboring townships during Tropical Storm Debby on Friday, Aug. 9. The EF1 had estimated peak winds of 105 miles, it was 300 yards at its widest, and was on the ground for about 3 1/2 miles, according to the NWS release.
