Massive Chicken Barn Fire Erupts In Shippensburg, Triggers 2-Alarm Response A towering fire engulfed a chicken barn in Southampton Township, Cumberland County, on Saturday night, March 1, drawing a massive emergency response, officials said. Flames erupted around 8 p.m. at the barn on the 700 block of Mud Level Road, quickly escalating to a second alarm as crews from Shippensburg Fire Department and neighboring companies rushed to contain the inferno. Thick smoke billowed into the night sky as firefighters fought to prevent the blaze from spreading. Authorities urged the public to steer clear of the area. No injuries or livestock losses have been confirmed.

Woman ID'd Following Crash In Cumberland County: Coroner An 81-year-old woman has died in a crash in Newburg, the  Cumberland County Coroner’s Office announced on Monday, Sept. 25.  The woman has been identified by the coroner as Betty J. Eyer of Newburg. She was the driver of a vehicle involved in a multiple-vehicle crash at the intersection of Enola and Three Square Hollow roads, Newburg, Hopewell Township at approximately 2:05 p.m. on Sept. 23, the coroner explained.  Her cause of accidental death was caused by multiple traumatic injuries, the coroner said.  The status of the other people involved is unknown.  The Shippensburg Fire Departm…
