A couple is accused of posting an online ad for sex work, prosecutors say. Suntoya Tucker and Betty Merwede were both charged with misdemeanor promoting prostitution and drug paraphernalia charges, according to the District Attorney's Office. Investigators claimed they responded to an ad Tucker posted on Oct. 24 and arranged to meet her at the Value Inn, 5219 Milford Road in Middle Smithfield. A judge in Pennsylvania will face criminal charges himself, after officials say he lied about where he lived in order to be appointed to the bench. John R. Caffese, who has served as Magisterial District Judge for Tobyhanna and Tunkhannock townships since July, was arraigned on Thursday, Dec. 1 on multiple felony offenses, said Monroe County District Attorney E. Armed Man Shot Dead By State Police In Eastern PA
An armed man was shot dead by state police on Thursday, Sept. 8 in Monroe County, authorities said. An unidentified 36-year-old man was fatally shot while troopers were completing a welfare check at a home on Deer Drive North in Middle Smithfield Township around 10 a.m., Pennsylvania State Police said. Troopers tried to get in contact with the man, but he refused to open the door, they said. He then unexpectedly fled out of the house through the back door, carrying a rifle, police said. A pair from Eastern Pennsylvania were charged in an undercover prostitution investigation, WFMZ reports. Candace Pickering, 49, went to meet a potential customer who claimed they would pay $300 for sex at a Poconos hotel Wednesday, June 1, the outlet says citing the Monroe County District Attorney's Office. Little did she know that she'd be met by an undercover officer who discovered marijuana, meth, and other drugs.
