School Locked Down After Teen Shot In Harrisburg In Broad Daylight: Police
A teen is in the hospital after being shot in Harrisburg at noon on Thursday, Oct. 24, city police announced. Officers had been called to a report of shots fired at the intersection of North Thirteenth & Herr streets. They arrived to find the juvenile boy suffering from a non-life-threatening gunshot wound. Downey Elementary School, located at 1313 Monroe Street was briefly on lockdown due to the “incident”, a spokesperson for Harrisburg School District said. Curfew For All Under 18 Years Old To Be 'Reinforced' In Harrisburg: Officials
Children cannot be in a public place between the hours of 10 p.m. and 6 a.m. from Sunday through Thursday nights, and 12 a.m. midnight, and 6 a.m. on Fridays and Saturdays– according to an ordinance police in Harrisburg will soon be enforcing. The so-called 'after-hours' curfew was first put in place in 2007, but on Monday, Sept. 11, 2023 city officials said they would be "reinforcing" it. Man Allegedly Tried To Lure Harrisburg Area Elementary School Students Into Van Without Plate
Elementary students on their way to school were supposedly asked to get into a man's van, according to a letter the Harrisburg School District. The man approached two Foose students near the intersection of 15th and Sycamore streets, on Tuesday, Dec. 20 around 8:50 a.m., according to the letter. The man is discribed as wearing a black mask and black sweater, and driving a white van in “poor condition,” without a license plate, as detailed in the letter. Shots were fired near An elementary school in central Pennsylvania on Wednesday, Nov. 30, authorities say. Harrisburg police were called to a report of shots fired near South 20th and Derry streets around 8:30 a.m., according to a release by the department. Harrisburg Safety Monitor Put On Leave For Bringing Gun To School
A Harrisburg School District safety monitor has been put on leave after he brought a gun to one of the schools, according to Superintendent Eric Turman. This safety monitor is legally permitted to carry a weapon, "however, Harrisburg School District safety monitors, in their professional capacity, are not armed and weapons are not permitted on school grounds," Turman says. A student was hurt following a massive, 22-student, brawl in the cafeteria at a central Pennsylvania high school, authorities say. The fight happened at John Harris High School on Sept. 13, PennLive reports citing the Harrisburg police. A Pennsylvania high school teacher has been arrested after he threatened his coworkers, according to the police. David Scott Delong, a 53-year-old teacher at Harrisburg high school, sent threatening emails to other staff members the morning of Wednesday, Mar. 16, the Harrisburg bureau of police said in a release on Thursday.
