These Whole Onion Brands Were Recalled Over Salmonella Concerns
An ongoing recall of whole onions has been expanded as two more produce brands issued alerts due to potential concerns of a salmonella outbreak. Potandon Produce and Alsum Farms Produce Inc. have become the latest to announce a recall of onions that have been linked to an outbreak of salmonella that has left hundreds ill. A 7-year-old boy's drowning last month at a central Pennsylvania hotel might have been preventable, according to information from the Dauphin County District Attorney Attorney Frank Chardo. Crews were called to the Red Lion Hotel at 4751 Lindle Road for a reported drowning on June 23 shortly before 10 p.m., as Daily Voice reported at the time. Call it a statistical oddity: Despite an historic spike in drug overdose deaths across the United States last year, the total reported for New Jersey ticked up barely 1% over 2019 – compared with an increase of more than 32% in New York, over 17% in Pennsylvania and more than 10% in Connecticut, the CDC reported. PA Family's Adopted Dog From Middle East Tests Positive For Rabies
The CDC has initiated a multi-state investigation after a Chester County family adopted a dog from the Middle East that was later determined to have a previously eradicated variant of rabies, reports say. The dog was one of 34 animals that were flown from Azerbaijan to Chicago's O'Hare International Airport by an animal rescue group on June 10, CBS reports. PA Mask Mandate Will End By June 28, Says Health Sec.
The Pennsylvania Secretary of Health has announced a firm end date to the state mask mandate--June 28. “Pennsylvanians are realizing they have the power to stop COVID-19 and that they are stepping up to get vaccinated,” Beam said on Thursday. 70% of Pennsylanian adults have received their first dose of a COVID-19 vaccine and 53% of adults in the state are fully vaccinated as of noon on Thursday.
