Tsunami Alerts Issued For US West Coast, Hawaii, Japan After 8.8 Quake Near Russia A massive 8.8-magnitude earthquake off Russia’s Kamchatka Peninsula triggered widespread tsunami alerts across the Pacific, including the entire U.S. West Coast, late Tuesday, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. The quake struck at 7:24 p.m. local time about 315 miles southwest of Bering Island, at a depth of 46 miles, and is among the top six strongest ever recorded, USGS officials confirmed. Crews with the Greater Chambersburg Area Paid Fire Fighters Association, IAFF Local 1813, were dispatched to the 100 block of South Main Street around 8 p.m. on Saturday, April 6, for a report of a vehicle crash into a building with possible entrapment, according to the department. Responding units arrived to find a two-vehicle accident with one vehicle into the building and a tree just outside, officials said. Firefighters confirmed there was no entrapment.…
