Bahamian officials have identified the Boston woman who was killed on Monday, Dec. 4, by a shark while she was paddleboarding off the coast of a five-star resort. Lauren Erickson Van Wart, age 44, was killed while playing in the ocean with a family member, the Royal Bahamas Police Force announced on Tuesday, Dec. 5. Tropical Storm Nicole is expected to strengthen to hurricane status before bringing drenching rain and gusty winds to the Northeast. A Hurricane Watch has been issued along Florida's East Coast as newly named subtropical storm Nicole makes its way toward the East Coast. Nicole, located about 380 miles east-northeast of the Bahamas as of early Tuesday morning, Nov. 8, is moving northwest. A springlike stretch of weather will finally come to an end as a cold front moves through the region followed by potential impacts from a storm system developing in the Atlantic.
