Joseph "Joey" C. Tedder, 22 of Hutchinson, Kansas, was arrested in Pittsburgh on Wednesday night, according to a release by the Allegheny County Sheriff’s Office.
A manager at Family Dollar in the Marshall-Shadeland neighborhood of Pittsburgh called police requesting assistance with the firing of Tedder to ensure the termination was without incident around 7:30 p.m., according to the release.
The manager believed Tedder had been shoplifting, but when police arrived he fled, according to the sheriff's office.
While searching for him, police discovered a warrant had been issued for him in connection with a murder in Austin, Texas in November, according to the release.
Tedder is believed to have shot and killed a man at an apartment when a drug deal went wrong, the sheriff says citing a criminal complaint filed by police in Texas.
Tedder was spotted in a vehicle in the 3300 block of Brighton Road and police soon learned he was allegedly living with his brother in a nearby home, according to the release.
Tedder was taken into custody without incident around 10 p.m., the release states.
Tedder was transported to the Allegheny County Jail, where he has been held on a warrant from Austin, TX, while awaiting arraignment on charges from the alleged shoplifting at Family Dollar, as well as fugitive from justice charges for fleeing the State of Texas, according to the sheriff's office.
