The incident happened just after 10 p.m. Sunday, March 16 at LaGuardia Airport in Queens.

The plane's left wing struck the runway during the landing before the pilots executed a go-around, according to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).

In a go-around, a pilot, during the final approach to land, decides against continuing the landing and instead initiates a climb, aborting the landing attempt.

No injuries were reported.

There were 80 people on board the CRJ-900 aircraft from Jacksonville, Florida, including a pair of pilots and two flight attendants.

The FAA is investigating the incident during which time the plane is expected to be grounded.
