Student Struck By Car On Way To School In Mechanicsburg: Officials

A student was hit by a car while crossing the street on their way to school in Mechanicsburg on Tuesday morning, March 11, officials said.

The collision happened around 8:30 a.m. at the intersection of Williams Grove Road and Broad Street, the closest intersection to Mechanicsburg Area Senior High School, in a marked 25 mph zone, according to emergency dispatchers and Google Maps.

The high school student was struck while heading to class, Superintendent Dr. Andy Bitz said. Emergency responders and the student’s family were immediately notified, and the student—who was conscious—was transported for medical care.

No further details have been released.

“The safety of our students is always our top priority,” Bitz said, adding that the district will assist local authorities in their investigation and provide counseling services for those affected.
