Seth Ian Weaver, 32, of Elizabethtown has been charged with felony disarming a law enforcement officer, misdemeanor simple assault, misdemeanor resisting arrest, and summary criminal mischief, according to the police and confirmed by court documents.
Elizabethtown Borough Police were called to a report of a woman being assaulted in the 400 block of South Market Street at 12:48 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 1.
Arriving officers observed signs of recent injuries on the woman and quickly began searching the residence for Weaver.
He was found hiding in an attic closet, police said. When officers attempted to place him under arrest, he resisted, allegedly grabbing an officer's taser in an attempt to disarm him. Police deployed a taser multiple times to gain control of the situation and secure Weaver’s arrest.
Assistance was provided by Northwest Regional Police Department and Susquehanna Regional Police Department.
He has a lengthy criminal record dating back to 2017. Those convictions include felonies for drug-related offenses, criminal trespass, accidents involving damage, and night prowling, according to court records. He was sentenced to five years probation for the trespass in June 2024, which he was serving during this latest incident.
He has been held in the Lancaster County Prison on $50,000 in bail as set by Judge Michel D. Hess at his preliminary arraignment at 1 a.m. the day of his arrest, as detailed in his latest court docket.
His preliminary hearing is set before Magisterial District Judge Randall L. Miller at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 13.
