Election 2024: Winner Projected For PA's 2nd US Congressional District

Election Day 2024 is in the books, and Pennsylvanians have chosen their next representatives in Congress, according to multiple outlets' projections based on unofficial results.

In the commonwealth’s 2nd congressional district race, Brendan Boyle defeated Aaron Bashir for the House seat representing portions of Philadelphia, the AP projects.

The incumbent was leading his republican party opponent by a margin of 68.7% to 31.3%, with 65.1% of the vote as of 11 p.m., according to the PA Department of State. 

The 47-year-old Boyle has represented the district since 2019.

Among his top issues, according to Ballotpedia, were protecting women's rights, affordable drugs and healthcare, and US defense. 

The Pennsylvania native earned his BA in government from the University of Notre Dame in 1999 and his MPP from Harvard University in 2005. He was an American Management Systems consultant from 1999 to 2002 and as a teacher for Kaplan Test Preparation. He became a state representative in 2005.
