A 3-year-old girl lost her mom in a car crash on Saturday, according to a Pennsylvania State Police release on July 7, social media posts, and a GoFundMe launched to help her daughter. Kristy Larson, 42 of Lancaster, was driving a 2013 Mitsubishi Outlander east on Holtwood Road/PA Route 372 when she crossed into oncoming traffic, left the roadway struck a tree, PSP Lancaster Trooper Joshua Croyle. A 33-year-old woman was hospitalized after being shot in the back by a toddler on Monday, July 1, according to Wilson Borough police. The shot woman was taken to a hospital for emergency surgery and is expected to survive, investigators say. The shooting happened on the 2200 block of Forest Street, authorities said. The gun owner, 41-year-old Brian Siegfried, cocked the gun and left it on a front porch table before walking across the street, according to police. LanCo Driver Was More Than 2X Legal Limit In Crash That Sent Passenger Into Surgery: Cops
A Lancaster County man was more than twice the legal limit in a crash that sent his passenger into emergency surgery earlier this month, police said. James Giuca, 37, of Denver, had a blood alcohol level of .184% when he lost control negotiating a curve on East Swartzville Road on May 13 around 2:25 a.m., East Cocalico Township police said. Giuca's vehicle struck a tree, requiring his passenger be extricated from the vehicle and rushed to the hospital for emergency surgery. Giuca was charged with aggravated assault by vehicle while DUI, DUI, and issued a summary traffic violation.
