4-Hour Standoff Ends In Philly Area Man's Suicide, Police Say
A welfare check turned standoff in the Philadelphia suburbs ended in tragedy on Tuesday, April 19, authorities said.
An unidentified man died by suicide outside a home on Brandamore Road in Honey Brook around 8 p.m., West Brandywine police said.
The victim was believed to be "suicidal" and "threatening harm," so police from West Brandywine, Honey Brook, and West Caln arrived around 4 p.m. to check on him, they said.
Officers arrived to find the unnamed man on a back deck with a shotgun aimed at himself, but he was unable to safely get down, police said.

A police officer in the Philadelphia suburbs fired a shot through the window of car as the driver attempted to flee during a traffic stop, authorities said.
An investigation later identified the driver as Takeshia Landry, of Ohio, who had a colt revolver firearm in her purse, Chester County DA Deborah Ryan said.
Landry, 41, was charged with firearms not to be carried without a license, recklessly endangering another person, flight to avoid apprehension, fleeing and eluding, and related offenses.

A former Chester County judge previously charged with using campaign contributions to gamble pleaded guilty to charges of theft, authorities announced.
Michael Cabry III, 59, was charged in October 2020 with repeatedly withdrawing funds donated to his reelection Political Action Committee (PAC) and using the funds to gamble at casinos in Delaware, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania, Attorney General Josh Shapiro said.
He also used the funds to pay for personal expenses, including laundry services, groceries, and hotel stays.

A 36-year-old Chester County man is facing decades behind bars for his involvement in a string of home burglaries in which he and his accomplices stole $35,000 worth of items, authorities said.
Christopher Hersh, of Avondale, and two co-conspirators robbed homes in West Fallowfield, West Caln, Kennett, West Marlborough, and New London, in October and November 2016, according to the Chester County District Attorney's Office.
