City Employee Shot In South Philadelphia: Police A Philadelphia city employee is in the hospital after police say he was shot multiple times on Thursday morning, Sept. 7.  The man was on the 2300 block of Oakford Street in South Philly when he was shot in the lower back and left forearm, the department told Daily Voice.  He was rushed to Jefferson University Hospital by first responders and placed in critical condition, police said. It's not clear if he was on duty when he was shot.  No weapon was recovered from the scene and no arrests had been made as of late Thursday morning, they added.

Victim Shot Dead Intervening In Carjacking: Philadelphia Police A man who tried to stop an armed carjacking in Philadelphia late Wednesday night was fatally shot by the would-be thieves, City police told Daily Voice.  It happened on the 1100 block of Porter Street in South Philly around 10:45 p.m. on July 12, the department said.  The 50-year-old victim was shot once in the head and declared dead at the scene minutes later by first responders, according to authorities.
