Memorial For Councilman Shot Dead At PSE&G Will Help Daughter Through College In PA
A former PSE&G employee shot and killed his supervisor outside the utility company's Somerset County facility on Wednesday, Feb. 8, authorities say. But this "one-of-a-kind" man's legacy will live on through his daughter, according to his family. Russell "Russ" D. Heller, 51-year-old councilman in Milford, NJ, was gunned down by 58-year-old Gary T. Curtis on Weston Canal Road in Franklin Township shortly after 7 a.m. Feb. 8, Somerset County Prosecutor John P. Firefighters Battle Blaze Next To Ukrainian Church, School In Passaic
UPDATE: Two firefighters were injured battling an afternoon house fire next to a Ukrainian church and elementary school in Passaic, authorities said. The four-alarm blaze broke out on the second floor of the 2½-story wood-frame home next to the St. Nicholas church and school on President Street shortly before 1 p.m. Tuesday, March 22, responders said. An Upper Saddle River police officer responding to a crash dragged an unconscious Rockland County driver to safety moments before the man's minivan went up in flames. The minivan had slammed into a utility pole, splitting it at the base, on East Saddle River Road south of Lake Street just after midnight Thursday, Capt. Edward Kane said. A noisy steam pipe has again triggered a Ho-Ho-Kus man who once stored his own excrement and shot it at his neighbor's house, authorities said. William J. Krywos, 49, has had a history of run-ins with the law, including causing a mid-1990s blackout that affected more than 32,000 Bergen County customers. A drunk driver from Pennsylvania escaped serious injury when his sedan slammed into a utility pole off Route 46 in Bergen County, authorities said.
