Authorities are investigating a homicide in West Philadelphia early Wednesday morning, May 1. A group of thieves made off with about $40,000 in jewelry after a robbery in Center City Philadelphia last week, according to police. An investigation found that the abduction of a 14-year-old girl in Philadelphia turned out to be fake, police confirmed. On Thursday, April 25, city police reported that the teen was grabbed behind by a male while on a FaceTime call with her mom around 4:55 p.m. Police later put out the following statement: "The teen has been located. She is in good health and back at home. Police are continuing to investigate the incident, but at this point in the investigation, an abduction does not appear to have taken place."

The pedestrian killed in a West Philadelphia crash on Wednesday, April 24 was 55-year-old Jonathan Mack, according to city police. Police are looking for a missing 75-year-old man. Robert Zack was last seen on Saturday, April 14 was last seen at his home on the 2400 block of W. A pedestrian suffered "serious head trauma" after being struck while crossing a Philadelphia street early Sunday morning, April 21, police told Daily Voice. The victim was hit by a dark blue Chevrolet Camaro while crossing the 5100 block of Grays Avenue around 1:20 a.m., authorities said. They were thrown about nine feet and taken to Penn-Presbyterian Hospital in critical condition, according to police.
