The youngest daughter of the nonprofit Caitlin Smiles founder, Abby Hornung, has died suddenly, her family announced in an obituary posted on the Jesse H. Geigle Funeral Home website. Abigail "Abby" Caitlin Hornung, 22, of Dauphin "passed away unexpectedly" on Thursday, Sept. 3, as stated in her obituary. PSP Investigated 580 Crashes, Wrote 24,865 Tickets Over Labor Day Weekend
Pennsylvania State Police investigated 580 crashes over the four-day Labor Day weekend. From Friday, Aug. 30 to Monday, Sept. 2, those crashes resulted in 170 injuries and six deaths. Those totals were lower than the 671 crashes last Labor Day that resulted in 220 injuries and 10 deaths. Impaired driving was a factor in 65 of this year's crashes, three of which were fatal. 50 Years After Being Found Frozen In Pennsylvania Cave 'Pinnacle Man' Is Identified
The body of a man found frozen in a Pennsylvania cave nearly 50 years ago has been identified, authorities said. The remains of Nicholas Paul Grubb, 27, of Fort Washington, Montgomery County, were discovered in January 1977 by two Appalachian Trail hikers who had ducked inside the cave to escape foul weather, according to the Berks County Coroner which announced the news last week. Grubb has long been known as the “Pinnacle Man,” named after the mountain peak near where his body was found. Tolls Increase On These 4 Bridges Between NJ, PA For First Time Since 2011
Tolls are going up on four Delaware River Port Authority bridges between New Jersey and Pennsylvania on Sunday, Sept. 1 for the first time since 2011. The increase on the Ben Franklin, Betsy Ross, Commodore Barry, and Walt Whitman bridges went into effect at midnight. A woman on her way home from an overnight shift at work and two men on a business trip crashed in Norfolk County on Wednesday morning, sending two to the hospital and one to the morgue, authorities said.
