Human Remains Found In 1994 Identified As Northeast Philly Woman: PSP
A body found during mine reclamation work in Luzerne County 30 years ago has finally been identified, state police announced Tuesday, Feb. 20. Margaret Carol Wininger was the "Sugarloaf Jane Doe," troopers wrote in a release. Wininger's remains were found badly decomposed off of Tomhicken Road in Sugarloaf Township on Dec. 12, 1994, authorities said. The condition of the remains prevented investigators from identifying her, or even learning her cause of death, for decades, officials explained. DNA Evidence Leads To Arrest In 2001 Eastern PA Cold Case: Prosecutors
Berks County investigators are closing the books on a decades-old cold case after DNA technology helped them identify the killer, according to the District Attorney's Office. Cynthia Baver was found dead from multiple stab wounds in her North 10th Street home on April 8, 2001, officials said at a press conference Friday morning. The 46-year-old also had a cord tied around her neck, authorities said. Inside and outside the home, investigators collected forensic evidence.
