Group Comes Under Fire In Abington Park, Police Say
Authorities are investigating after a group of people were shot at in Abington's Crestmont Park. Police said it happened last Saturday, April 27 around 10:15 p.m. The shots missed the victims but damaged their vehicles, officials said. The shooters fled the park in a dark-colored sedan, according to police. "None of the individuals had any idea who would have targeted them for this attack," they noted. 64 Grams Of Meth Seized During Allentown Arrest, Police Say
A routine police patrol in Allentown on Wednesday, March 27 ended in one arrest and the seizure of 64 grams of methamphetamine, according to authorities. APD said patrol officers were on the 1400 block of Martin Luther King Drive around 3 p.m. when they stopped to investigate a suspicious vehicle and a person "loitering in the area." Rafael Jose Heredia, 30, was arrested and charged with drug possession with intent to deliver and related counts, police said. He's being held in lieu of a $50,000 bond and has a preliminary hearing on April 5, court records show

Allentown Police Chaplain Angel Ramos Dies: Officials
Angel Ramos, an Allentown pastor and longtime police chaplain, has died, the department announced on Thursday, Jan. 18. Ramos had served as APD's chaplain for 27 years, said Chief Charles Roca in a statement. "Pastor Ramos served the city and its residents with distinction," the chief said. "Our thoughts and prayers are with him and his family during this time." His Facebook profile says he studied at Colegio San José in Río Piedras, Puerto Rico, and that he served in the US Army during the Vietnam War. Ramos is survived by his wife.

Five Hurt In Back-To-Back Shootings In Allentown: Police
Five people were hurt and one person is in police custody after a pair of shootings unfolded in Allentown Friday night and Saturday morning, Dec. 29 and 30, according to officials. The first shooting happened on Ridge Avenue between Gordon and Chew streets around 9 p.m., police said in a release. An Allentown teenager faces criminal charges after authorities say he showed up to school with a gun Tuesday morning, Dec. 19. City police were called to Dieruff High School about a possibly armed student around 10:30 a.m., the department said in a release. A school resource officer and responding APD officers eventually located the student, "who had been in possession of a firearm on school property," authorities said. Authorities in Allentown are investigating a shooting early Friday morning, Dec. 8 that sent the victim to the hospital. Police were called to the 500 block of Park Street between Liberty and Allen streets around 1:45 a.m., the department said in a release. A would-be thief is in police custody after authorities said he attacked a dollar store worker with a knife on Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 23. Police said 28-year-old Raphael Garcia walked into the Family Dollar at 1401 Allen Street around 2:45 p.m. and tried to steal merchandise. When an employee confronted him, authorities said Garcia slashed the worker's hand with a knife, causing a "minor laceration." Authorities in Allentown have named the 85-year-old man who died in a hit-and-run on Union Boulevard on Thursday, Oct. 19. Elian N. Makdsi of Allentown died from blunt force injuries and the manner of death was accidental, said the Lehigh County Coroner's Office. Authorities in Allentown have released new details on the pair of men who fatally shot each other during an early-morning argument late last month. Yovanni Suazo Jr., 21, and Alexander J.
