It happened in Upland Borough around 5:30 p.m., police said in a statement. Officers were called to the 400 block of Kent Lane near Upland Park to find a 13-year-old female victim with stab wounds to the back and stomach, the department wrote.
Witnesses told investigators that they saw a 13-year-old boy approach the victim in a borough park before stabbing her twice "without provocation," according to the release. The suspect ran away from the scene, but was arrested on the 1400 block of Kerlin Street by police from Chester City and Parkside Borough, authorities said.
The suspect was identified by police as a 13-year-old boy from Chester who was "known to the victim." He was charged with aggravated assault, simple assault, reckless endangerment, and possessing an instrument of crime via juvenile petition, Upland police added.
The victim's condition was not reported by authorities.
