Kylie White, a Philadelphia native now living in the suburbs, started flipping dollhouses in 2022 as a creative outlet after losing her first home. What began as a passion project has since evolved into a thriving online community where she shares her expertise in budget-friendly renovations.
“Interior design was always my first love,” White said. “I bought (and also lost) my first home in 2020, and I incorporated a lot of my design ideas from that home into my dollhouses as a way to cope with the loss.”
From luxury renovations to DIY budget builds, White teaches followers how to create mini masterpieces at any price point. She sources unique, affordable pieces through online retailers like Temu, which she says has helped make the hobby more accessible.
But White isn’t doing it alone. Her dad, a retired scale model maker, has joined her on the journey. “At first, he couldn’t see the vision,” she said. “Now he’s my miniature partner in crime, helping me design and build furniture, accent walls, and more.”
Together, they’ve launched a small Etsy business crafting modern miniatures, filling a gap in the dollhouse world where contemporary pieces are hard to find.
Currently working on her fifth renovation—a modern farmhouse—White is pushing the boundaries of realism in the miniature space. She’s also tackling her first Victorian-style build, calling it her “most challenging” project yet.
Born and raised in Philadelphia, White embraces the local culture, from hiking scenic trails to cheering on the Eagles. Now settled in Bucks County, she’s excited to see where her passion for miniatures takes her next.
