The system will arrive Thursday night, March 20, marking the first day of spring, according to the National Weather Service.
The highest wind speeds will occur overnight and continue into Friday, March 21.
Most locations will see rain, showers, and scattered thunderstorms, while a mix of sleet and snow is expected farther inland, primarily at the tail end of the storm.

Areas shaded darker blue in the second image could see between 3 to 6 inches of snowfall.
Friday will turn breezy with skies gradually clearing.
Another system is on track to arrive Sunday night, March 23, into Monday, March 24, bringing rain with snow mixing in farther north.
"March is often a chaotic month in terms of weather conditions, and the weather pattern into early next week will be a prime example," according to AccuWeather. "There will be a quick flip from warmth at midweek with rain and thunderstorms to chilly conditions with snow in some areas."
