Macy’s Closing 4 PA Locations Including Wanamaker Center City Philly Store Macy’s, Inc. confirmed Thursday, Jan. 9, that its Center City Philadelphia store in the historic Wanamaker building will close, along with three other Pennsylvania locations, as part of the company's nationwide "Bold New Chapter" strategy. The Wanamaker building store at 1300 Market Street will shut its doors permanently, along with Macy’s locations at: Logan Valley Mall Exton Square Mall Wyoming Valley Mall These closures are part of Macy’s plan to eliminate 150 "underproductive stores" over three years, allowing the retailer to focus resources on 350 "go-forward" locations nationwide, …

400+ REI Employees Laid Off, Outdoor Retailer Ends Adventure Travel Program More than 400 employees will lose their jobs as REI closes its Experiences program, ending the adventure travel and outdoor education programs that have been part of the retailer’s identity for 40 years. REI announced the shutdown of its Experiences division in a news release on Wednesday, Jan. 8. The decision will result in 438 layoffs for 180 full-time employees and 248 part-time guides as the company shifts focus to its core business. Big Lots To Close 5 More Pennsylvania Stores Things have gotten worse for the discount retailer Big Lots.  The national chain was previously set to close approximately 300 stores, then they decided to close 40 more, but following a new filing with the Securities & Exchange Commission on Friday, Oct. 4,  the impending closure of another 150 stores nationwide has been announced.
