The youngest daughter of the nonprofit Caitlin Smiles founder, Abby Hornung, has died suddenly, her family announced in an obituary posted on the Jesse H. Geigle Funeral Home website. Abigail "Abby" Caitlin Hornung, 22, of Dauphin "passed away unexpectedly" on Thursday, Sept. 3, as stated in her obituary. Her older sister, and her middle namesake, notably died of a cancerous brain tumor at the age of seven in 2000— two years before Abby was born. Warrant Issued By PSP For Sex Offender Russell Mason
An arrest warrant has been issued for a convicted sex offender who failed to register with Pennsylvania State Police, according to a release by the Erie County District Attorney's Office on Friday, Aug. 30. Russell Edward Mason, 44, failed to register as a sex offender, after he was convicted in March 2013 of raping a child and importuning a child in Dec. 2012, according to the PSP Megan's Law Sex Offender Registry. Vegetables, Bagged Salads Sold In 18 States Recalled Due To Listeria Concerns
A recall for a brand of vegetables and bagged salads has been expanded to 18 states due to possible Listeria contamination. Ohio-based Wiers Farm began its investigation in response to the Michigan Department of Agriculture's original findings, which led to the expansion. Products in the expanded recall were packed between Friday, July through Friday, July 12. Cucumbers Shipped To 14 States Recalled Due To Possible Salmonella Contamination
A Florida-based company is recalling whole cucumbers that were shipped to 14 states, but may be contaminated with Salmonella, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced. According to the FDA, the cucumbers subject to recall are dark green, between 1.5 inches and two inches thick and between five to nine inches long.
