A former firefighter in multiple counties in Pennsylvania and a Vietnam veteran died on Wednesday, Sept. 11, his former station announced. Blaine W. Horn, 75, of Slatedale, passed away at his home, according to his obituary posted on Heintzelman Funeral Home, Inc.'s website. He was known in his community as the former Fire Chief of Citizen’s Fire Company #1 for over 40 years and the current Fire Marshal of Slatedale, but his service to his community dates back much further. A Maxatawny woman died after crashing her car in the township Thursday, Aug. 17, according to authorities. Deborah A. Majerich, 67, was driving along Kohler Road near Berks County Park when her vehicle left the roadway and hit a telephone pole, said Lehigh County Coroner Daniel A. Buglio.
