6-Year-Old Allentown Girl Sexually Assaulted In North Whitehall Township: PSP A sexual assault involving a 6-year-old Allentown girl is under investigation after a child welfare report revealed the alleged abuse, Pennsylvania State Police announced on Monday, Feb. 3, 2025. The assault reportedly occurred in 2023, but authorities only recently began investigating the case after receiving a report concerning the child in North Whitehall Township.  Troopers began their investigation on Dec. 30, 2024, according to the release.  Details about the suspect and circumstances surrounding the case have not yet been disclosed as the investigation continues.

Chapin, 87, was found dead at his North Whitehall Township home on Friday, Oct. 18, at 1:17 p.m., the Lehigh County Coroner’s Office announced on Monday, Nov. 4.  Chapin, who died of natural causes, had no next-of-kin identified at the time of his death. David A. Brown, 68, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash that happened when the dump truck he was driving in the 2700 block of Valley Road struck an embankment. Elderly Couple Dies In Murder-Suicide: Lehigh County Coroner Officials are investigating an apparent murder-suicide in North Whitehall Township on Saturday, May 18, according to the Lehigh County Coroner's Office.  Authorities said 78-year-old Harvey H. Hartung shot his wife, 79-year-old Carol A. Hartung, before turning the gun on himself. Both were pronounced dead at the scene.  Pennsylvania State Police and the District Attorney's Office are investigating, Coroner Daniel A. Buglio added.
