Former Darby Police Corporal Tom Takacs Sr., 53, Dies, Department Says A former police corporal has died, the Darby Borough Police announced on Monday, July 29.  Retired Darby Borough K9 Police Officer Thomas "Tom" Takacs Sr., 53, of Upper Chichester (formerly of Norwood and Tinicum) passed Friday, July 26, 2024, at home, according to his obituary posted by the Marvil Funeral Home. Two Rounds Of Thunderstorms Predicted In NJ, PA: Here's Timing The National Weather Service is predicting two rounds of thunderstorms in New Jersey and Pennsylvania on Thursday, May 23. The first is expected in the morning northwest of the I-95 corridor through noon, and the second in the afternoon and evening along the Jersey Shore and in South Jersey (see map above). The NWS warns that strong to severe thunderstorms could come with gusty winds. Travel delays due to flooding, downpours, and hail are expected, AccuWeather says. Philly Restaurant Chain Paying Atlantic City Expressway Tolls For Jersey Shore-Bound Drivers A Philadelphia seafood restaurant and sports bar chain is helping out some travelers heading to the Jersey Shore for Memorial Day weekend.  In a news release, Chickie’s and Pete’s said it will pay the tolls for drivers on the Atlantic City Expressway from 4 to 5 p.m. on Friday, May 24.
