Photo Released Of School Bus Shooters: Chester County DA

Students were on a school bus when gunshots came through the windshield, Chester County officials announced on Thursday night, Oct. 10.

The bus full of high school students was in the 300 block of Charles Street when a bullet went through the windshield around 3 p.m., according to the Coatesville Area School District. Multiple shots were fired at the bus. 

No one on the bus was hit and no injuries were reported, officials confirmed.

"Students on the bus are safe, as is the driver, and police are on the scene. We are extremely grateful for the calm reaction of our driver and the support of police," district officials.

Due to the shooting Thursday night's football game against Downingtown East High School was canceled. Friday, became a flexible or remote learning day, and when the school reopens more police will be on campus, officials say. 

"No child should be subjected to gunfire on a school bus. This is an active, high-priority investigation," the City of Coatesville Police Department Chief Jack Lauffer and Chester County District Attorney Christopher L. de Barrena-Sarobe wrote in a joint statement.
