NWS Confirms Tornado Touched Down In Pennsylvania
The National Weather Service at State College has confirmed a tornado touched in Harrisburg and traveled through the neighboring townships during Tropical Storm Debby on Friday, Aug. 9. The EF1 had estimated peak winds of 105 miles, it was 300 yards at its widest, and was on the ground for about 3 1/2 miles, according to the NWS release. The tornado touched down near the Inclinator Company at 4:33 a.m. and took off again near the Pennsylvania State Police headquarters on Elmerton Avenue around 4:40 a.m., as detailed in the release. The victim of a deadly shooting has been identified and his alleged killer has been arrested, officials told Daily Voice Monday morning. Willie Elbert Ford, 38 of Steelton, died at a local hospital after being found by officers suffering multiple gunshot wounds around 2 a.m. on Feb. 22, officials detailed on Feb. 26. Ford's cause of death was gunshot wounds to the body and the manner was homicide, according to the Dauphin County Coroner's Office. A car that was shot at crashed into a tree in front of Bellevue Towers, Harrisburg officials announced on Friday evening. The police were called to a report of shots fire and a crash in the 2400 block of Market Street around non but available to find only a crashed white SUV, everyone else involved had fled the scene, officials explained. A Harrisburg High School student has been identified by his family and the coroner as the juvenile shot dead on Friday. Torray "Umpie" Eden previous of East Pennsboro, Enola, was shot in the 1800 block of Market Street at 10:15 p.m., on Feb. 9 according to the Harrisburg Police and the Dauphin County Coroner's Office. A woman died after she and a man were struck crossing a Harrisburg street on Thursday, Dec. 8, area police announced the following day.
