Days after a "1,000-year flood" drenched portions of the Northeastern US over the weekend, Berks County residents impacted by the rainfall are beginning to rebuild. Heavy downpours from a powerful storm system have left communities throughout the region in disrepair and have killed at least one person in New York state, Daily Voice has reported. Massive Pittsburgh Fire Kills Man; Hurts First Responders, Displaces 106 People: Authorities
A five-alarm fire started in a 12th-floor apartment left one dead, two injured, and 106 displaced, authorities say. The fire broke out in the Roosevelt Building in the 600 block of Penn Avenue just after 10:30 p.m. on Sunday December 11, Pittsburgh Bureau of Fire, Pittsburgh Public Safety, and the Red Cross of Great PA said in separate statements. One person was pronounced deceased at the scene, and their name has yet to be released.
