Drunk Central PA Man Who Struck Dead Woman In Crosswalk Turns Himself In, Police Say Over two months after Emily Compton was struck dead the man accused of hitting her has turned himself in, authorities announced on Thursday, Nov. 2. Douglas Lee Gibb, 64, of Carlisle turned himself over to authorities at Magisterial District Judge Birbeck's office on Oct. 30.  Emily C. Compton, 72, also of Carlisle, was two blocks from her home when Gibbs struck her in the crosswalk on Hanover Street at the intersection with East South Street at 12:36 p.m. on Aug. 29, police explained.  Officers with the Carlisle Fire Department and Cumberland Goodwill EMS helped Emily at the scene. PA Native Tyler Updegraff, 27, Dies Skiing In Colorado Pennsylvania native Tyler James Updegraff died in a skiing accident Thursday, Jan. 26 in Colorado, authorities said. He was 27 years old. The former Cumberland Valley football star was working with student-athletes when he died from injuries suffered as a "single skier verses snow accident" on the first jump feature at Little Makuna Park in the Snowmass ski area," Pitkin County Deputy Coroner Kevin Hadfield said.
