Three areas are being monitored for the potential to become the next named tropical storm of the 2024 Atlantic hurricane season, with one of them having a strong chance. In particular, an area in the southwest Caribbean has a high chance of development, according to an update Friday morning, Nov. 1 by the National Hurricane Center, rating the chance at 70 percent. It's starting to get crowded in the Atlantic basin. A brand-new tropical storm has formed just as an earlier system, Bret, continues its westward movement: Meet Cindy.
