The crash happened just north of Elmerton Avenue around 6:15 p.m., police detailed in the release.
Responding officers found a severely injured child at the scene. The child was transported to a local hospital, where they later succumbed to their injuries.
The Harrisburg Police Traffic Safety Unit arrived to investigate, and the road remained closed for several hours during their investigation and cleanup.
