The funk band Maze's lead singer, Frankie Beverly, died on Tuesday, Sept. 10, his family shared on social media the following morning.
Beverly was 77 and a Philadelphia native who attended Germantown High School. He was known as a legendary R&B artist, songwriter, and producer.

Fatal Crash: Philly Motorcyclist Killed In 3-Vehicle Collision, Police Say
A 34-year-old motorcyclist was killed Tuesday, Sept. 10 in a three-vehicle collision in Philadelphia, authorities said.
The fatal crash occurred at approximately 3 p.m. on Woodhaven Road (Route 63) near Thornton Road, Philadelphia police said.
The male rider, who was not identified, was traveling eastbound, and collided with both a vehicle and a box truck, also traveling eastbound, police said.
The motorcyclist was pronounced dead by Medic 20 at 3:19 p.m., they said.
Woodhaven Road was closed in both directions during an investigation.

A Philadelphia man was convicted on Friday, Sept. 6 after a trial of stalking his ex — a federal employee — and burning her face with a corrosive substance, nearly blinding her in one eye while she was on her way to work, federal authorities said.
Victor Ortiz, 47, of Philadelphia, threw a "caustic substance" — soda ash — at her face and torso, on May 4, 2022, according to U.S. Attorney Jacqueline C. Romero.

Fatal Shooting: Teen Struck With Gunfire In Arm, Legs, Torso, Philly Police
A 17-year-old boy died early Tuesday, Sept. 10 after being shot multiple times in Philadelphia, authorities said.
Just before midnight, Philadelphia police responded to a person with a gun shooting on the 1800 block of West Sedgley Avenue, in the 39th District, they said.
The victim suffered multiple gunshot wounds to the torso, arms, and legs, police said.
PFD-Medic Unit transported the male to Temple University Hospital, died of his injuries on Tuesday, Sept. 10 at 3:15 a.m., police said.
Eleven bullet casings were recovered at the crime scene, police said.
