Foster Homes Needed For 30 Animals Seized From Berks County Home
Rescue officials are desperate for help after 30 animals were seized from a home in Berks County. The Department of Animal Protection from the Animal Rescue League of Berks County was performing a wellness check when they removed 22 dogs, three cats, five snakes, and two geckos were removed from a home in Womelsdorf on Wednesday, Oct. 9. The severe thunderstorms and heavy winds that rained out Berks County over the weekend were accompanied by an EF-1 tornado, the National Weather Service has confirmed. The twister traveled about a mile through Womelsdorf on Saturday, April 22 in about a two-minute span, meteorologists said in a report published Tuesday. 'Distracted' Berks Driver Hospitalized After Slamming Into Utility Pole: PA State Police
A driver was injured in a single car crash last week in Berks County, authorities said. Virginia Zartman, 76, was driving westbound on Old 22 about 1/4 mile west of Saddle Road in Greenwich Township when her car left the south side of the road and struck a utility pole around 4:40 p.m. on Jan. 5, Pennsylvania State Police said. Zartman, of Womelsdorf, was taken to an area hospital with unknown injuries while her GMC Denali was towed from the scene, police said. A year-long child pornography sting has resulted in the arrests of five Berks County men, authorities said. The county-wide investigation was launched after Berks County detectives received numerous complaints from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, according to the Berks County District Attorney's Office. Hit-Run Drivers Charged In Crash That Killed 67-Year-Old Berks Man Walking Dog
Two of the three drivers involved in a hit-and-run crash that killed a 67-year-old Berks County man last month have been charged, authorities said. The month-long investigation led to the arrest of Todd Frey, 55, of Manchester (York County), on charges including accidents involving death or personal injury and careless driving, Berks County District Attorney John T.
