A new Consumer Affairs report determined the safest states in the U.S., with New Jersey taking the top spot. Using data from the FBI and the U.S. Census Bureau, the website scored each state based on violent and property crime rates, the number of law enforcement officers per capita, and law enforcement budgets. US Census Bureau: Pennsylvania Loses One Electoral College Vote
For the tenth consecutive decade Pennsylvania’s population has declined, forcing the state to lose a US House seat and an electoral college vote. Pennsylvania has been a battleground state in recent presidential elections but it will now have only 19 votes in the electoral college. PA will maintain its ranking as the state with the sixth highest number of electoral college votes between Ohio and Illinois. PA Could Lose At Least 1 US House Seat, Census Numbers Say
Pennsylvania is expected to lose at least one of its 18 seats in the US House before the next election, according to early census data predictions. The U.S. Census Bureau will release preliminary numbers from the 2020 census by the end of the month, but an early population predictions show the shrinking population of the state is enough for it to loss one district. Pennsylvania has lost at least one congressional seat after every census since 1920, or at least one every 10 years for the last 100 years.
