Authorities have released additional details in the Interstate 78 crash that shut down a large stretch of the highway on Monday, July 1. The multi-vehicle wreck happened near mile marker 31 in Hamburg, state police said in a release. A tractor-trailer was headed west in a work zone when it hit the center concrete barrier, troopers said. Motorcyclist Dies After Allegedly Fleeing Police On PA Highway
A motorcyclist is dead after police say he fled from a traffic stop on Route 61 late on Tuesday, Aug. 8. It began on Route 61 in Ontelaunee Township around 10:15 p.m., Northern Berks Regional Police said. Officers noticed "several" motorcyclists riding fast in the southbound lane and tried to pull them over, but they allegedly fled. The bikers took off so quickly that police did not try to chase them, the department said. Water Main Break Reported In Reading
Crews are working to fix a water main break in Reading. The break happened on Route 61 near ABC Roofing around 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 29, according to the Reading Area Water Authority. Residents in the Northeast area of the city are expected to have low water pressure or no water at all, officials said. Water should be restored soon. A boil water notice was issued to the areas where water service was disrupted.
