52 Arrested In 'Elaborate' Cockfighting Ring In South Jersey: Police
More than 50 people were arrested after police broke up a large cockfighting ring in Atlantic County, authorities said. Galloway Township police executed a search warrant at a home on the 300 block of South Bremen Avenue on Saturday, Mar. 9, the department said in a news release. When officers arrived, a large group of people were there and many tried to run away before they were detained. US Marshals have arrested two more suspects in connection with the killing of Philadelphia policeman Richard Mendez. A man in his 40s was struck and killed by a speeding Dodge Charger involved in a street race in Philadelphia, authorities said. Two suspects in the hit-and-run crash were later arrested in Pennsauken, NJ, police in Philadelphia said. 4-Alarm Fire Levels South Jersey Auto Warehouse
A four-alarm blaze leveled an industrial building in South Jersey, authorities said. The fire broke out about 9:30 p.m. Tuesday at U.S. Auto Auction, 6601 S. Crescent Boulevard in Pennsauken, reports said. There were reports of multiple explosions and flames blasted through the auction building's roof. A partial collapse onto Route 130 South closed part of the highway as firefighters from multiple departments battled the blaze. The fire raged for more than three hours and required at least 10 engines and six ladder trucks to get it under control, reports said.
