A volunteer fire police officer who was struck dead in the line of duty has been identified by the York County Coroner's office on Sunday, Aug. 18. Brian Peek, 67, of Wilson Court, in Goldsboro, Newberry Township died after being struck by a vehicle at the intersection of Red Mill and Corn Hill roads in Newberry Township at 2:20 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 16, according to the coroner's release and FEMA. K9 Chokes To Death In Police Training Exercise In Pennsylvania
A police dog is dead after choking on an unnamed object during a training exercise at his handler's home on Tuesday, Sept. 19, say Newberry Township police. The handler rendered "life-saving efforts" on Zar, a 5-year-old Belgian Malinois-German Shepherd mix, but was unable to dislodge the foreign object from his airway, police said. A Georgia resident was nabbed with an unlicensed gun while stopped along Interstate 83 in Pennsylvania, police say. Willie Lonzie Jones Jr. of the 100 block of Zelkova, Fayetteville, Georgia was found with the unlicensed gun at a northbound weighting station along the highway and 9:30 a.m. on Mar. 23, according to a release by the Newberry Township police department. A 22-year-old former convict who is accused of raping children— among other child sex abuse offenses— has been charged with 115 felonies in York County, police say.
