A 20-year-old Pennsylvania driver was speeding well above the limit and was high on marijuana when he struck another vehicle, killing a grandmother and wounding her 7-year-old granddaughter, authorities said.
Logan Dierkes, of Hatfield, was heading west on Mininger Road in Franconia Twp. at approximately 84 mph — possibly above 90 mph — in a 35 mph zone, in a 2008 Dodge Charger while Paula Wilson, of Bethlehem, was pulling out of a driveway around 5:35 p.m. on Sept. 14, Montgomery County District Attorney Kevin R. A Pennsylvania mom surrendered to authorities Monday, July 25 after a warrant was issued for her arrest in connection with the brutal beatings of her five-year-old son by her boyfriend, authorities said.

A 29-year-old fugitive was injured after a shootout with police over the weekend in the Philadelphia suburbs, authorities said.
Mark Simpkins Jr., of Norristown, had been wanted on an arrest warrant since Oct. 4, 2021, when patrol officers spotted him heading into the A-Plus store on Main Street around 6 a.m. Saturday, May 21, Montgomery County District Attorney Kevin R.Steele said in a joint release.

A former Philadelphia corrections officer was arrested for straw purchasing and illegally reselling five firearms — two of which have been recovered by police, authorities said.
Amanda Barr, 37, of Trevose, was investigated after two of the guns she bought were discovered in the possession of felons – people who are not legally allowed to buy or carry a firearm, Montgomery County District Attorney Kevin R. Steele said.
