A man was wounded from a gunshot to his right index finger as he was in the area of Alter Street and 17th Street on Tuesday, September 24, 2024, according to the Hazleton City Police Department. The man was treated at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Hazleton for the non-life-threatening wound and later released, police said. Police responded to a notification from the Raven Gunshot Detection System that shots were fired in the area of Alter and 17th streets. A community is coming together to remember a young Pennsylvania cheerleader who was killed in a shooting just 10 days before beginning her senior year of high school. Kassadey Matulevich, 17, died at Lehigh Valley Hospital - Hazleton after she was shot in the head by 17-year-old Alan J. Eastern PA Infant Dies After Being Found Unresponsive: Police
An infant died after being found unresponsive in Luzerne County, authorities said. Troopers responded to the Hazleton Apartments on West 24th Street in Hazle Township around 2:50 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 6 for a report of an unresponsive 3-month-old child, Pennsylvania State Police said. Cops found the child in bed with a man, who was asleep at the time, they said. The boy was rushed to Lehigh Valley Hospital - Hazleton, where he was pronounced dead. The infant's identity and cause of death were not immediately provided by authorities. The incident remains under investigation.
