19-Year-Old Dies After Berks County Crash: Coroner (Updated)
A teen who was badly hurt in a crash on Interstate 78 in Berks County last week has died from his injuries, the Lehigh County Coroner's Office says.
Caden Hummel, 19, was headed east in Greenwich Township when he lost control of his Honda Civic and hit the concrete median on Tuesday morning, Jan. 30, according to a state police report.
After coming to a rest in the left lane, his car was rear-ended by an eastbound Cadillac, and both drivers were taken to Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest, troopers said.

A Berks County woman who claimed that she found an injured dog and her dead puppies along the side of the road was actually the animal's owner, according to a release from state troopers.
Bryanna Wagner, a 23-year-old from Leesport, brought a dog to Zoe’s House Rescue in Sinking Spring on May 7, police said. The animal, who rescue workers took to calling "Sadie," was in "rough shape" at the time of her rescue, the team said on Facebook.

Three Berks County men are in police custody after authorities said they carried out a double homicide early this year.
Emanuel Soto, 18, of Reading, was arrested on Monday, Oct. 31 by Reading police and FBI agents, city officials said in a press release.
His alleged co-conspirators, 21-year-old Jonathon Rodriguez of Leesport and 24-year-old Darrian Kreitz of Reading, were already jailed on unrelated charges, authorities said.

A fundraiser has been launched for the family of a Berks County man who was killed in a motorcycle crash in Centre Township on Sunday, Aug. 21.
Steven Brenner, 29, was traveling south on Railroad Road on his 1973 Harley Davidson when he failed to negotiate a curve in the road while speeding, Pennsylvania State Police said.

Police Apprehend Second Suspect In Shooting That Killed 18-Year-Old Man In Reading
Police in Berks County have arrested a man accused in the 2020 shooting death of an 18-year-old man in Reading, authorities said.
Xavier Concepción, 32, was taken into custody Wednesday at his home in Leesport, and charged with first and third-degree murder in the death of Victor Aguirre Jr., of Laureldale, according to the Reading Police Department.
Aguirre was shot multiple times in 300 block of Church Street at approximately 10:30 p.m. on Dec. 10, 2020, police said.
