52 Arrested In 'Elaborate' Cockfighting Ring In South Jersey: Police
More than 50 people were arrested after police broke up a large cockfighting ring in Atlantic County, authorities said. Galloway Township police executed a search warrant at a home on the 300 block of South Bremen Avenue on Saturday, Mar. 9, the department said in a news release. When officers arrived, a large group of people were there and many tried to run away before they were detained. Investigators found an "elaborate cockfighting operation" that included a fighting ring, seating for spectators, and several cockfighting kits. South Jersey Man Indicted In Crash That Killed 8-Year-Old Philly Boy: Prosecutor
A 25-year-old man from South Jersey has been indicted in a crash that killed an 8-year-old boy from Philadelphia last summer, authorities said. Edward W. Johnston, of Galloway Township, was charged with aggravated manslaughter after an investigation found he struck a parked vehicle with the boy in it, the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office said on Wednesday, Jan. 10. Johnston allegedly was intoxicated and speeding at the time of the crash, the prosecutor said. IDs Released In Action News NJ Helicopter Crash
Action News has released the names of the pilot and team photographer killed in a helicopter crash Tuesday night, Dec. 19 in New Jersey. Monroe Smith, 67, of Glenside, PA, was the pilot, and Christopher Dougherty, 45, of Oreland, PA, was the photographer, according to the news station. They had departed from the Northeast Philadelphia Airport before 7:30 p.m., in a Eurocopter AS350B2, headed toward Galloway Township, NJ, according to the FAA and 6abc. South Jersey Man, Woman Hurt In Atlantic City Shooting
A man from Galloway Township and a woman from Atlantic City were wounded by gunfire on Tuesday night, authorities said. At 9:32 pm, Atlantic City patrol officers responded to the first block of south Florida Avenue on a ShotSpotter alert, according to Lt. Kevin Fair, a city police spokesman. A man and woman, who were in the same vehicle, were wounded in the gunfire, Fair said. Their names have not been released.
