A fisherman discovered the body of a man in Pocono Creek on Friday, Oct. 7, authorities said. Anthony Nicholas Counterman, 26, was found in the water near Tanite Road in Stroud Township around 9:15 a.m., Stroud Area Regional police said. His body was recovered by first responders around 12:15 p.m., they said. An autopsy will be conducted, but his cause and manner of death are undetermined at this time, police said. A weekend fire in Allentown claimed the life of a 40-year-old woman, authorities said. Jessica Maes died after being pulled from the apartment building blaze on the 800 block of Walnut Street on Saturday, July 16, according to the Lehigh County Coroner's Office. Maes was pronounced dead around 5:50 a.m. at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest, officials said. Authorities have identified the man found dead in a vehicle parked outside of a Walmart. Frank Nispel, 55, was found dead in his vehicle on Saturday afternoon, according to a release by the York County coroner's office. Body Found On University Of Maryland Campus
A man was found dead on the grass of the University of Maryland Campus, the school's police said. First responders found the man in the grass outside Mowatt Lane Parking Garage around 6 a.m. on Dec. 21. He was pronounced dead on the scene. There was no known threat to campus, according to police.
