Authorities in Newtown are investigating two separate fires involving school vehicles on Friday morning, March 22, according to the township police department. The first fire happened in the parking lot at St. Andrew Catholic Education Center on Wrights Road around 7:45 a.m., police said. The vehicle was unoccupied and there were no injuries or damages to other property, authorities wrote. Council Rock Bus Driver Charged With DUI: Police
A Council Rock School District bus driver is accused of driving under the influence while dropping off students late last year, according to court documents obtained by Daily Voice. Matthew Dudek, 35, of East Norriton, is charged with DUI and a dozen counts of endangering the welfare of a child, court records show. Police wrote in an affidavit that it happened on Dec. 15. A high school teacher in Bucks County faces felony charges after prosecutors say he tried to meet up with a minor for a sexual encounter. Steven A. Struzinski, a 42-year-old Plumstead resident and a teacher at Council Rock North High School in Newtown, was arrested Thursday, March 9, and late released on a $25,000 cash bond, state court filings show. Unfounded Threats Keep Bucks Students Out Of School For Days
Threats that were later proven to be unfounded caused a number of Bucks County students to miss school for several days, authorities said. On Dec. 3, a Newtown Township police school resource officer was notified of a potential threat by Council Rock School District officials, Newtown police chief John L. Hearn said in a Tuesday release. The threat, which was allegedly made two to four weeks ago, was reported by other students, chief Hearn said.
