State police in Montgomery County are investigating a burglary at a PECO substation on May 8. Two masked men used bolt cutters to gain entry to the substation at 444 Gravel Pike in Perkiomen, troopers said. They then stole copper wiring from the loading dock, according to investigators. Suspect one was 5-foot-11 and about 180 pounds with an average build, police said. He wore a gray hoodie with the hood cinched tightly around his face, black sweatpants, and gray sneakers. A pair of attempted burglars were found hiding in a roof HVAC unit after a 90-minute search at an industrial building in Upper Merion, township police said. It happened at the old Philadelphia Inquirer printing plant at 800 River Road on Monday, Oct. 16, authorities said. A witness saw a man on the roof just before 10 a.m. and called police, but the man spotted the witness fled across the roof, according to the department. 'Get Money Squad' Stole $250K In Wire From Philly Area Utility Poles: DA
Authorities in Bucks County say they have taken down a criminal group that stole more than $250,000 in copper wiring from area utility poles. Eight members of the so-called "Get Money Squad" are in police custody and a ninth is sought, said District Attorney Matthew Weintraub's office. Investigators say the organization targeted Verizon poles in Makefield, Warminster, Bensalem, and Bristol. A man is wanted by the Federal Protection Service for stealing from the United States Courthouse construction site in Harrisburg, police and Pennsylvania Crime Stoppers say. A man allegedly stole several hundred pounds of copper wiring and pipe from a construction site at the United States Courthouse on 6th Street over three separate occasions between Sept. 27 and Oct. 11, according to police. PD: DelCo Man Arrested For Swiping Copper Piping From Medical Facility Under Construction
A 57-year-old Delaware County man was arrested for stealing over 300 pounds of copper piping and telephone wiring worth $10,000 from a medical facility under construction in Radnor Township, authorities said. On two separate occasions in May, Robert J. Garraty, of Norwood entered the building in the Wayne section of the township and stole the copper piping and telephone wiring which he later sold, according to the Radnor Township Police Department.
