52 Arrested In 'Elaborate' Cockfighting Ring In South Jersey: Police More than 50 people were arrested after police broke up a large cockfighting ring in Atlantic County, authorities said. Galloway Township police executed a search warrant at a home on the 300 block of South Bremen Avenue on Saturday, Mar. 9, the department said in a news release. When officers arrived, a large group of people were there and many tried to run away before they were detained. Investigators found an "elaborate cockfighting operation" that included a fighting ring, seating for spectators, and several cockfighting kits. About 50 roosters were found in "various degrees of health" …

Tornado Warning For Burlington, Camden, Ocean Counties The National Weather Service issued a tornado warning for northwestern Burlington and central Camden counties until 4 p.m.  A similar warning was issued for Crestwood Village and Chatsworth in Ocean County until 4:30 p.m. The storm system had weakened as it headed into New Jersey, the NWS said. A severe wind and hail warning was issued for Trenton and Hamilton Square, NJ and Levittown, PA, until 4:30 p.m. Severe thunderstorm warnings with high winds and hail were issued for Lakewood, Browns Mills and Pine Lake Park until 4:30 p.m. A tornado was possible, the NWS said.

Tyshaun Carter, 24, was heading south on Route 628 in a BMW 325xi when he struck a box truck turning left out of a driveway around 4:15 a.m. in Springfield, NJSP Sgt. Kurt Smith, who lived at the residence in the 500 block of Willow Boulevard in Browns Mills was convicted for causing the death of his elderly mother and her companion, according to Burlington County Prosecutor Scott Coffina. The house fire happened in October 2018 in the Browns Mills section of Pemberton Township, he said. Donte Boyer II, 31, of Browns Mills, died after he lost control of his car while traveling west on Lakehurst Road, also known as County Route 530, according to Pemberton Township police. Boyer's 2004 Buick Rendezvous reportedly struck a tree near 420 Lakehurst Road and Ridgeview Avenue around 8:30 p.m., police said.
