A $1 hot dog night turned into debacle at Citizens Bank Park on Tuesday, April 11, as Phillies fans, presumably unentertained by the action on the field, spent much of the night throwing thousands of hot dogs at each other.
The action on the field wasn't much better, as the Marlins raced out to a 4-0 lead and won 8-4. Fans preoccupied with the $1 dogs would've missed Luis Arrez becoming the first Marlins player to ever hit for the cycle.
According to Phillies Nation, more than 58,000 hot dogs were sold, though it is unknown how many were eaten v. used as projectiles.
The Phillies are back in action at home against the Marlins on Wednesday, April 12, though mercifully all hot dogs will be normal price.
Despite the flying hot dog chaos, there were no reports of any injured weiners.
